What a waste (none / 0) (#8)

Dell is just stupid. They will spend hundreds of dollars and generate an incredible amount of bad will to save $50.00 on a part. By design or stupid management I bet 30 percent or more of their tech support budget is wasted on trying to screw customers. Dell's response is that someone might cheat us and since that is the case we do not trust anyone. Many Tech vendors have figured out how reduce their tech support budget by just doing the right thing in the first place - just replace the part and if we get screwed once in a while that is still cheaper that hire a bunch uncaring tech people who nothing but cause customer to go elsewhere. Mistakes happen - what is important is how they are handled.
