Why would anyone pay cash??? (none / 0) (#4)
by Anonymous User on Wed Apr 16, 2008 at 04:29:38 PM PDT

Seriously, with all the $hit some of these companies put their customers through, especially in this instance, where this particular PC earned Dell a LOT of profit--(compared with the piddly profit earned on a $400 budget PC), why don't people buy stuff on credit cards??? You then can dispute the charge...

Case in point... My wife and I purchased new T-Mobile phones with a 2 year agreement on a family plan at a T-Mobile store on 3/31/07. All the signs said "$50 mail-in rebate" per phone. I get the form and it says that the rebate period starts on 4/1/07. The guy at the store says "no problem, it'll get paid", some hick T-Mobile customer service rep says "no problem, it'll get paid"... Of course, the rebate gets denied because it's outside of the eligible date range. We each disputed our charges with the T-Mobile store for $50 (each). T-Mobile didn't attempt to fight either dispute and didn't even bother to respond... We would have been SOL if we paid cash.
