Glad I'm anonyous cause I voted "Apple"[ Reply to This ] (none / 0) (#1)

I've had trouble with many companies in the poll, but only with Apple in 2007. Reasons:

1. "Mighty Mouse" that stops working on a regular basis due to poor design of scroll ball.

2. Late OS upgrade (Leopard) that is very buggy, perhaps more so than Vista?

3. iWork '08 (actually a very late '07) officially replaces the now discontinued Appleworks, but still doesn't have drawing or database programs and  is still missing an equation editor.

4. iLife '08 (actually a very late '07) replaces iMovie with a dumbed-down replacement, forcing upgrade to Final Cut.

I know it's been popular to bash Leopard for being buggy but I honestly haven't had many problems with it. That said, I should admit that after hearing all the problem reports I waited for 10.5.1 and then did a hard drive clone, clean install, and user migration rather than an upgrade in place.

As for the missing database and drawing programs, I agree - but as for "dumbing down" iMovie, that's kind of the point of iMovie - it's an introductory program, not a professional tool. For $80, you get iPhoto, iDVD, Garageband and iMovie.

Complaining that iMovie isn't as good as the $300 Final Cut is just ridiculous.

Leopard Bugs and iMovie[ Parent | Reply to This ] (none / 0) (#37)

Disagree on #2. It was late, not as late as Vista (by YEARS not that late). I've yet to encounter show stopping bugs (Spaces needs work, but I still use it). On the other hand, Vista may have actually shipped with fewer bugs -- everything I've seen on it indicates it's the actual working functions that are so annoying as to be considered bugs. So I guess it's up to your definition of bug. For #4 Apple offers a free download of iMovie HD 6, the iMovie from iLife '06. even have a Mac, do you? Buy a $10 mouse of your choice. B.S. Umm, Graphing Utility? In the Utilities folder?? Install automatically keeps iMovie '06, forcing you to remove your head from your butt and LOOK in the applications folder. Asstroturfer!

Assuming you are addressing me, the first poster.

1. The iMacs came with that not-so-mighty mouse. I was forced to pay for it.

2. I never said "graphing utility", I said "drawing". Appleworks had it. I now use EazyDraw, but had to purchase it separately. I was first turned on to the Mac in 1984 because of the MacDraw program.

3. iMovie '06, while still available is no longer supported AFAIK. It is an abandoned product, like Appleworks. If you rely on it, you might find it doesn't work in OS 10.6.

And as far as your insults are concerned, that's just why I'm glad I post anonymously for protection from people that worship Apple and think they can do no wrong. I noticed in the polling that Apple is only one percentage short of that demon Dell! I know I'm not alone.

Google Checkout does not have a contact phone number for customer billng issues, and did not respond to emails. Contesting the charge with the credit card company got the credit after following up an initial rejection.
