Other Quiken Issues (none / 0) (#3)

I have been using Quicken for 12 years now.  I guess I am a masochistic.

First, Quicken seems to be following the trend of the content industry to segment their products.  What this means of course is that some products have more features and others less.  This makes me nervous, especially with TurboTax.  I buy the Deluxe version, which used to be the top-of-the-line. But TurboTax has now introduced a new "Premier" version and I am not sure if the Deluxe version is still providing the same level of functionality or if it has been dumbed down.

Second, Quicken in the past has changed file formats with every annual version.  What this means is that if you buy the new version and test it out, you cannot go back to the old version. I think this type of business behavior is unethical.

Third, Both Quicken and TurboTax have embedded adds in the product. I don't want to see these little "helpful" reminders to spend more money to upgrade. Intuit should remove all its adds.

Fourth, when registering an update you enter the usual contact information; but if you want to opt-out, you have to go to a different screen and enter all the contact information over again!! Clearly they have designed the registration process to be cumbersome to make it difficult to opt-out.  I guess this is for our benefit to improve our customer experience.

Maybe someone from Intuit will take the opportunity to respond as to why they do this type of unethical business behavior. Ed, since these have been long standing "issues" with Intuit - would you be able to solicit a response from Intuit?

Sigh, I guess all we would get is a response that customers "approve" of these "features".
