First, don't under any circumstances mess with Mr. Jones's account in any way, including registering his account online. Regardless of your intentions, doing so would make you liable for all sorts of trouble. It would allow DirecTV to deny that they had any problem and make you out as an identity thief, which we all know they would do in a heartbeat. IANAL I've always had good success in such situations by writing a letter to the president of the company. For good measure, you should send it Registered Mail, with Return Receipt requested. Even if they still do nothing, it gets you on record as having notified the company of their error. Good luck.
