Same for Western Digital[ Parent | Reply to This ] (none / 0) (#2)

I've been using W.D. drives exclusively for about 12 years now, and as is the nature of these things, I've had a few bad ones (tho very few compared to what I see in other brands). But I've never had a problem with their RMA process or with promptly getting a replacement drive. Call 'em up, explain the symptoms and the steps I've taken to try to resolve it, get RMA number, done.

I've always used their "transship" option (they send you a replacement, you transfer your data to the new HD, then send back the sick HD in WD's shipping container). The replacement HD has always arrived within 3 or 4 days, and while nominally you have 30 days to return the sick HD, the deadline printed on the container has never been less than 45 days. So the customer wins coming and going on this one.
