So that company allows Microsoft to extort money from it in the name of protecting against ligitation. Are these companies going to stand this again and again. If they continue to stick with Microsoft, this is going to repeat itself.

Have they considered other alternatives? Why do they allow Microsoft to continue to grab money from them? No wonder why Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer are so rich!

Personally, I won't hand over any of my money to Microsoft again. No Vista, no Office 2007, no Zune, no more new Microsoft products for me.

No more M$ product upgrades for me either. I'm installing ONLY OpenOffice on the home PC for my kids. While they will probably learn on MS products at school, their homework assignments will be completed using OpenOffice. I'll install Linux on the next (faster) home PC so they will be motivated to learn that too. Once they are "multi-lingual" they can decide for themselves if they want to pay for M$ products. Given the M$ trend towards increasing DRM functionality in their products, I suspect it will be an easy decision.

Remember the CSNY song Teach your Children Well ? This is an important lesson to pass along.
