The method of grading should be as objective as possible. I would like to see grades for things like transferability (transferable without contacting vendor, transferable with vendor participation without fee, transferable with vendor participation with fee, nontransferable), warrantee (no warrantee, media warrantee, warranted to perform to a specification), and "phoning home" (software never required to contact vendor [software may contact vendor with explicit user permission to check for updates], software must contact vendor exactly once, software must contact vendor more than once).
