Intuit payroll[ Parent | Reply to This ] (none / 0) (#6)

They don't really cut off your payroll, the program just stops calculating taxes.

I do a tiny payroll and am not going to pay the $199 a year. No way, never.

With the subscription turned off, the program nags me every month, but I shove on. Calculate the deductions myself and key them in to the check stub window. The program prints the check, prints the stub and every accumulates year to date numbers.

Oh yes, there's a web site, Payroll-taxes.com, that is intended to help folks check the employers calculations, which I use to do the calculations!

Quickbooks payroll shutoff[ Parent | Reply to This ] (none / 0) (#13)

The issue is if you don't pay the annual 'tax subscription' to Intuit the payroll tax calculation feature of Quickbooks shuts off.  Yes I can and do perform the calculation manually.  But why am I, and millions of other users, held hostage for $199 per year to keep licensed software fully functional?

Personally missing the a year or two of tax table updates would not effect me.

I have thought about other options for accounting systems.  But the problem is the many years of history I have in my Quickbooks data.
