The issue is if you don't pay the annual 'tax subscription' to Intuit the payroll tax calculation feature of Quickbooks shuts off.  Yes I can and do perform the calculation manually.  But why am I, and millions of other users, held hostage for $199 per year to keep licensed software fully functional?  

Personally missing the a year or two of tax table updates would not effect me.

I have thought about other options for accounting systems.  But the problem is the many years of history I have in my Quickbooks data.
