With the real income for printer makers coming from consumables, it would seem prudent to maintain drivers for new OS's. I had a fairly recent Canon printer, but purchased a new PC with WinXP installed. Canon stated on their site that they would not upgrade the driver for the printer. That meant I had to purchase a new printer. You can bet it was not a Canon. So, Canon lost the consumables I had been purchasing. It would seem if Canon was making all these various printer models, the same basic driver should work. That is why you can still use a HP Laserjet IIIP on WinXP and I still use my old HP Laserjet IIID.
