having dealt with drivers for 20 years, ever hook up an mx80 to xerox machine?, i agree. what a bummer. hp is the best at upkeep of working drivers to me. (except for the non-existence of bidi drivers for w2k)but lexmark makes some doozies. they never work well but install so politelly before they wreck the registry. xerox drivers are amazingly hard to get and always work as an hp laser jet mimic. apple drivers were hilarious since they acted in secret in a committee fashion and would find any printer, just not use it. epson drivers are somewhat virus like as the status monitor blows out your network connection. but i do applaud all of the vendors for working at a moving target. microsoft does not make it easy.
