Let ME decide if your product is too slow (none / 0) (#3)
by Reziac on Thu Dec 18, 2003 at 02:41:25 PM PDT

Here's my problem with prohibiting publishing of benchmarks: it means that I have no way of guestimating in advance how YOUR product will run in MY environment. Maybe "too slow" for someone else's environment will be just fine for MINE. Maybe I'll be willing to accept that some other product runs faster, but I'll still prefer yours for other reasons (such as, it's better-behaved or better-featured for my uses), so long as I know what level of performance to expect from it. The point is, let us see the information and decide for ourselves. If I have to bench your app myself, I may just decide it's not worth the effort.

PS. if the max subject line in these forums is "50 characters" fer ghu's sake fix it so it only accepts 50 chars, instead of making us COUNT 'em. (It's refusing posts with longer subjects, tho you can type about 60 chars in the subject line.)

OTOH, the autoformat is nice.
