Why is this a surprise?[ Reply to This ] (none / 0) (#1)

There needs to be some explanation why Jared and Guilmette have been reportedly pretty much told to whistle Dixie, rather than action taken to pursue, identify, and prosecute what is obviously a large, coordinated, and well planned gang of perpetrators of criminal activity, willing to commit massive DDoS attacks targeting specific individuals and sites that go on not just for hours or days, but in the cases sited here, for MONTHS of unrelenting, 24 hour a day attack. Something is clearly not right in this picture.

This guy must be new to America. Here's your explanation, pal: These anti-spam guys get no protection because they can't afford to purchase a congressman or a senator. Large corporations and the rich can and thus are above the law when they do bad things, and can get laws enforced when they stand to become richer for it and/or they can be hurt (financially or otherwise) by those who break them.

Average citizens are left to take the law into their own hands and hope they can mete out some justice without getting caught. In this case that would mean tracking down these DDoSers and disabling their machines somehow, which of course opens up the anti-spammers to all sorts of charges under the anti-hacking laws.
